A Message From Our Chair

I am so proud to serve as the Chair for the 9th Annual Go Red For Women Girls' Night Out in Jackson this year! The American Heart Association has done an outstanding job in the past few years to raise awareness nationally about heart disease being the #1 killer of women in the U.S. and GRFW events are held across the country every year to rally women together to continue to increase awareness, increase fundraising, and educate those women who are ready to take action and get excited about adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle!

None of this would be possible without our national sponsors - Macy's and Merck - and of course, we couldn't do it without supporters like YOU! I hope you will join us for a fun-filled fabulous Girls Night Out on Thursday, February 9. Get your RED on and bring your best girlfriends to support the sponsors who have helped make this night possible and to honor our awesome SURVIVOR SISTERS - you will get to hear their stories that night.

I am personally committed to furthering the cause and activities of the AHA in West Tennessee, because I have seen firsthand the powerful work that is accomplished through the resources and education of the AHA. Our 3-year-old daughter Maggie is alive today because of the life-saving CPR training we as new parents received after her first heart surgery in 2009. Without the efforts of the AHA to distribute educational material and train healthcare providers and others, we would not have learned infant CPR - and Maggie would probably not be here. Helping with AHA Go Red For Women is one small way I can help to repay the debt of gratitude I owe to the AHA for educating and empowering my husband and parents like us to help save lives!

I can't wait to see you at the 2012 Go Red For Women event in Jackson Tennessee!
